  • Handgun .22, 9mm, .38, .38 special or larger caliber pistol or revolver. No magnum,
  • 5 magazines or speed loaders is recommended (high capacity is not needed as steel matches consist of 5-shot strings)
  • 150+ rounds of ammo for a 6 monthly  stage match.
  • 75+ rounds of ammo for a 3 stage Tuesday night match

Each CAPS match follows a schedule and typically lasts 4–5 hours, depending on the number of competitors. All competitors are expected to pitch in throughout the match with reset and assist with end-of-match cleanup.

Range Officer & Scorekeepers


Safety is everyone's responsibility and everyone is a safety/range officer in regards addressing proper gun handling skills.  Certified Range/Safety Officers and qualified Scorekeepers are volunteers of the club.  They have been tasked with keeping each squad safe and in compliance with official rules that govern our sports.  Respect between our Range/Safety Officers, Scorekeepers, and Participants is an essential part of our competitive shooting community.  Designated Range/Safety Officers have authority over their squad, with ultimate authority falling on the Match Director for situations that require clarification on rules, policy, procedures and conformation of disqualifications.


Squads & Participation

Shooters will have access to squad during registration.  If you do not squad yourself, you will be placed on an open squad on  match day.  You will stay with this squad and transition to each stage together.  


Everyone is expected to help tape and reset targets between shooters to keep the squad on time moving through each stage.  At the end of the match, it is requested that each shooter help break down a stage so equipment can be stored away quickly, allowing other groups and clients of the range to use the tactical bays in the afternoon.
